General Discussion / Re: About this Forum
Last post by monsonite - May 02, 2024, 03:05 AM
Hi Andrew,

I run a small group on Facebook, called Minimalist Computing. We generally cover computing technology before the 80x86 PC age.

The EDUC-8 revival project falls squarely within it's remit and I will do my best to spread the news of this fascinating project.

I wish you all the best with this forum.

You might wish to split it into "Component Sourcing" "Build Queries" "Hardware" "Software" and "General"

This will help members find what they need, quickly.

Hi Steven - I needed a pic and stole one from online. It looks like a lovely machine - I do hope you are OK with me using the picture, but if not I will change it!

Here is my blog where I describe in detail my build of an EDUC-8 in 2007. I also give lots of information on EDUC-8 and plenty of links to software and other resources to build your own EDUC-8.

Here's the problem I had slicing this model for FDM printing. Resin may be the best option.

Switch Lever Prototype Files

These files may be difficult to print with an FDM printer - a nozzle 0.3 mm or smaller is recommended, as the curved body of the design is extremely thin. It is probably better to consider printing these in resin instead.

Note: the switches available on AliExpress already have the lever and it is only necessary to print your own if you want period-correct colouring.

Resources / Rear Card Handles

These Rear Card Handles attach to the 6 rear circuit boards (2 handles per board). Thus, 12 are required for a full set.
